SCS SB 270 - ADMINISTRATIVE LAW JUDGES SPONSOR: Schneider (Monaco) COMMITTEE ACTION: Voted "do pass by consent" by the Committee on Judiciary by a vote of 17 to 0. This substitute requires that a chief administrative law judge be elected for a 2-year term in executive branch agencies that employ more than one administrative law judge. The substitute has an effective date of January 1, 2002. FISCAL NOTE: No impact on state funds. PROPONENTS: Supporters say that the bill will increase the effectiveness, productivity, and training of the administrative law judges in the executive branch agencies to which it applies.
